Deep Carpet and Floor Care

Project Overview
A restorative floor treatment across a Portland home where wool carpet in the main rooms and engineered timber in the hallway had both dulled under years of ordinary use. Vacuuming had kept the surface tidy but had not lifted the grit sitting deep in the pile, which is what wears fibres down and flattens them. Each floor type was treated with a method matched to it rather than a single approach applied everywhere.
The Challenge
Wool does not tolerate the wetting or the alkalinity that synthetic carpet will accept, so extraction had to be low-moisture and pH-controlled. The timber had absorbed marks around the entrance that could not be sanded without refinishing the whole run. Drying time also mattered, because the household needed the hallway back the same evening.
Key Highlights
- Low-moisture extraction suited to wool pile
- pH-controlled products throughout
- Timber cleaned and conditioned without refinishing
- Hallway back in use the same evening

Project Goals
The aim was to recover appearance and extend the life of both floors rather than mask wear for a few weeks. Removing embedded grit was the substance of that, since it is abrasion rather than staining that ages a carpet. The finish also had to be honest: where a mark was permanent we said so instead of over-treating the area.
Key Challenges
- Wool pile intolerant of standard wet extraction
- Absorbed marks in timber near the entrance
- Two floor types needing different methods
- Same-day drying required for the hallway
